  • How does Fold work?

    Fold allows you to earn bitcoin as cashback when you shop at retailers with your credit card or bitcoin wallet.  Pay with your credit or debit card or transfer BTC from your bitcoin wallet into a digital gift card on your phone and receive bitcoin cashback instantly. Once you’ve made your payment, you can find your brand-specific gift card barcode or code in the “Gift Cards” view in your Fold account. 

    When you’re ready to use it, select the card you’d like to use on your phone and scan the barcode in store at the register or input the alphanumeric code at checkout to complete the payment.  If the retailer isn’t able to scan the barcode on your phone, they can enter the numeric code accessible in the card details menu.

  • Help! I'm getting an "email cannot be found" error.

    This most likely means that you do not actually have an email login with Fold (even if you are receiving our update emails).  If you have a social account, please try logging in with either Facebook or Twitter.  Otherwise, you may have had an anonymous account.  Please contact Support with the following details to regain access:

    • the kind and last four digits of a credit card you have used to purchase in Fold
    • a description of your last few purchases to verify we have matched the correct account
  • How do I reset my password?

    Please note that a password is only required for email logins.  If you need to reset your password, please tap "Login" and tap "Forgot Password?" to initiate a password reset.

    If you have a social account, please tap the corresponding login button.  If you have an anonymous account, please contact Support to regain access.

  • Do I need bitcoin to use Fold?

    No, you can use your credit or debit card to make purchases in Fold mobile app.

  • What does it mean to "Proceed Anonymously"?

    Fold allows you to start using our app without giving us any personal information.  However, if you log out of an anonymous account, you will have to contact Support to get a login token to regain access to the same account.  (Anonymous accounts have usernames of the format fold-date-random, e.g. fold-2019-10-04-RFQesE3uJbYf6e.)  If you would like to make sure you have persistent access to your Fold account, please sign up for Fold with a social or email login.

    Credit cards can only be added as a payment method to non-anonymous accounts.  New anonymous accounts can make purchases in Fold using the Bitcoin Lightning Network.

    To convert your anonymous account to an email login, please contact Support.  If you have not made any purchases, you can just create a new account using email to sign up.

  • Why can't I access my anonymous account?

    If you need help accessing your account, please contact support with your Fold username to get a one-time login link.
